Fresh Start prayer (BBC radio)

Dear God,

Thank you that a new year

can give us a chance to stop.

A milestone in our journey

to breathe deep

and to take stock.

 

Lord, would you encourage us

as we see how far we’ve come

as we celebrate progress made

ground we’ve gained

Lord, would this spur us on.

 

And for those who’ve navigated

an uphill climb or rough terrain

give rest to the weary, we pray

comfort the grieving

and strengthen the weak once again.

 

As we look out across the horizon

renew our hope for what lies ahead

would our supplies be replenished

body and soul nourished

you have all we need for the next leg.

 

For you O LORD, never leave us 

 

You are the perfect walking companion

so, lead us on

guide us

even carry us

we put our trust in your love and goodness
